Where it all began
1939
Our story began in 1939, when Ramona a free spirited farmer fell in love and married Francisco Gonzalez, a young entrepreneur. With a humble start, they quickly realized each possessed a unique and ambitious talent. Together they raised strong crops and even stronger children. Day after day, they would cook breakfast in the fields and would tend to their crops while their children worked and played along side them. With Ramonas love of the agave and Francisco’s unrelenting passion to instill strong working values in his family, a tequila company was born.
The Gonzalez family continues their tradition of hand selecting each agave to produce an exceptionally premium tequila.
We pay homage to their legacy and their commitment with our name.
Further Together
Ramona, a farmer and the matriarch, provided a love to her family beyond what words can describe. Making sure that all their children (6 sons & 6 daughters) were loved and taken care of, Francisco & Ramona's dedication is the example we strive to follow. Gonzalez 1939 would not be possible without the hard-work, dedication, and passion that the Gonzalez family members all have contributed. No strangers to hard-work, Francisco & Ramona's children grew up with very little, but together they were able to build their businesses and provide their family with more opportunities to grow and be more successful. Anything is possible with a family united.
Tradition
There is a deep & rich history with agave in Mexico. Mezcal dates back as early as the 1500's, where the natives in southern Mexico had crafted the first mezcals. In those early years, the Spanish had discovered a village named Tequitlan, meaning “land of hard labor.” The village name was later changed to “Tequila” which is located in the state of Jalisco. The craft has gone through many changes, however we continue to the same traditions such as cooking our espadin agave in a pit oven and using 100% Blue Agave for our tequilas.
Present Day
The legacy of Francisco & Ramona Gonzalez is carried today by their children & grand-children, who incorporate the same values and beliefs they had established in 1939.
The new generation of Gonzalez dedicates themselves to provide everyone with mezcal & tequilas of the highest quality; for in hopes that you create beautiful memories with those you love & cherish.
